Cultured marble is crushed natural marble bound in resin, cast into a block and sawn into slabs — the material sold elsewhere as engineered marble or faux marble, cut here into cultured marble countertops, vanity tops and shower walls. We cast dozens of designs at 2700 × 1800 mm in thicknesses from 14 to 25 mm, polished or honed, and cut them to your drawings. Browse the designs below and send your sizes for a quote.
2700 × 1800 mm is our standard cast size, and every design on this page comes off that same block. Thickness runs from 14 to 25 mm in whole millimetres, so a vanity top and the shower wall beside it can be cut at different thicknesses from one design. We also cast to your own dimensions within that range. Cultured marble colors run from pure white and soft greys to creams, sands, ambers and black, all cast on the same block size.

| Minimum order | Stock slabs: one slab — ask us to check stock. Made to order: one container, up to five colours, thicknesses can be mixed. |
A 2700 mm slab takes a 2400 mm run of vanity tops in one piece, and at 1800 mm wide it gives two 800 mm tops side by side from the same slab with the basin cut-outs nested. Full-height shower wall panels come off the 2700 mm length. Tell us the finished sizes and we will send the cutting plan against the actual slab before the saw starts.
Cultured marble is not marble cut from a quarry block. Crushed natural marble and mineral aggregate are mixed with a resin binder, cast into a block and then sawn into slabs, which is why the pattern repeats from slab to slab instead of changing the way a natural bed does. That repeatability is why it is specified for hotels and apartment blocks, where a hundred vanity tops have to look like one order.
You will see the same material called engineered marble, synthetic marble, man made marble, composite marble, agglomerate stone and faux marble. Every one of those names describes stone aggregate bound in resin. One of them needs care: in North America “cultured marble” often means a moulded one-piece vanity top with the basin cast in and a sprayed gel coat, which is a different product from a sawn slab. What we cast is the slab — no coating, polished on its own face, and fabricated on the same equipment as natural stone. If you are comparing quotes, that is the first thing to check.
| Application | Suitable | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Vanity tops and bathroom counters | Yes — the main use | Water absorption of 0.02 % means the face does not take water in along the splash line. |
| Shower walls and tub surrounds | Yes | Full-height panels cut from one slab with the joints kept on the corners; the resin-bound body resists everyday stains. |
| Floors, stair treads and circulation | Yes | Chip size, colour mix and background are fixed per design, so a floor reads as one surface across a project. |
| Wall cladding and reception fronts | Yes | Same batch consistency, and panels can be cut to a module rather than to the slab. |
| Light-use kitchen counters | Yes, with trivets | Resin binders discolour under direct heat, so hot pans go on a trivet. |
| Heavy-use kitchen worktops | Not recommended | Mohs 3 to 4 on the marble aggregate. Specify quartz or porcelain instead — we make both. |
If the job is a bathroom, cultured marble is usually the right answer on both performance and match. If it is a kitchen worktop that takes pans and knives every day, it is not, and we would rather say so now than after the container has shipped.
We publish a figure only once it has been measured on our own material. Water absorption and surface hardness are confirmed; the remaining rows are being tested and will be filled in as the results come back.

Most of what we cast leaves here as bathroom pieces, and cultured marble countertops are the bulk of it. Send the drawings and we deliver finished cultured marble vanity tops with the basin cut-out, the tap holes and the edge profile already done, packed by room or by floor so the site crew is not sorting pieces. Standard widths run from 600 to 1500 mm, and anything longer comes off the 2700 mm slab length in one piece — a 2400 mm double vanity has no joint in it.
Shower walls and tub surrounds are cut from the same designs, so the wall and the top match instead of nearly matching. Panels are cut to your ceiling height, joints kept on the corners, and the niche lined from the offcut. Custom vanity tops and shower panels are quoted from your drawings, not from a size list.
For a marble bathroom vanity that has to look the same in every room of a hotel, this is the material that does it: a natural marble top changes from block to block, while a cast design repeats. Tell us the room count and we cast the whole job from one batch.
Everything you need to plan a first order, in one place. Stock slabs start at a single slab. Made-to-order slabs start at one container, which can mix up to five colours and different thicknesses — standard for us rather than a favour.

Most cultured marble is cast to order, so the schedule matters more than a stock list. Tell us the quantity and the date it has to be on site, and we will confirm the casting run before you commit.
Nobody specifies a hotel’s worth of cultured marble countertops off a photograph. Send us the design numbers and we will post hand samples at 150 × 150 mm, one per design, up to six designs per request. For a shortlist we can also photograph the slabs as they come off the saw, so you are approving the batch you will receive rather than a representative piece.
Fabricators take whole slabs and cut their own cultured marble countertops. Where there is no local fabrication capacity, or the job is a repeat run of identical vanity tops, we cut at the factory instead and ship finished pieces. Fifteen edge profiles are cut in-house, from a flat eased edge to a full bullnose. Undermount and drop-in basin openings, tap holes and socket cut-outs are polished on the exposed cut face. Send a DXF or a dimensioned drawing and we return a cutting plan against the actual slab before the saw starts.
With a diamond blade, the same way as natural stone. Our cultured marble is a sawn slab with no coating, fabricated on the same equipment as natural stone, and we cut it in our workshop to your DXF, with basin openings and tap holes polished on the cut face. When cutting a cultured marble top on site, a continuous-rim blade and masking tape along the cut line help prevent chipping.
Cultured marble for bathrooms, quartz for kitchens. Our cultured marble is crushed natural marble in resin, Mohs 3 to 4 with water absorption of 0.05%, and it is usually the right answer for vanity tops and shower walls on both cost and match. Quartz rates Mohs 6 to 7 and absorbs within 0.04%, so it takes the pans and knives of a heavy-use kitchen worktop. We make both.
Mostly the look. Cultured granite belongs to the same family as cultured marble, stone particles bound in resin, but is made to look like speckled granite rather than veined marble; our own granite-look designs, such as XG2627 and XG2629, use a glass and mineral aggregate. Natural granite is a different thing: quarried stone at Mohs 7 that takes a hot pan, but most fabricators seal it before installation.
There is no material difference: engineered marble and cultured marble both mean marble powder and aggregate bound in resin, also sold as synthetic, man-made or composite marble. What differs is the product. Many North American cultured marble tops are moulded one-piece units with a sprayed gel coat; ours are 2700 × 1800 mm slabs sawn from a cast block, 14 to 25 mm thick, with no coating, polished or honed on their own face.
Natural marble for a one-off piece where the owner accepts the upkeep; cultured marble where many pieces must match. Natural marble is calcite, about Mohs 3, and acids in lemonade, wine and cola etch it. Cultured marble is crushed marble and aggregate cast in resin, absorbing 0.05% water, and its chip size, colour mix and background are fixed per design, so within one batch a hundred hotel vanity tops read as one order.
Cultured marble is cast to order, so a run starts at one container, which can mix up to five designs and different thicknesses; at 20 mm a 20 ft container holds 105 slabs of 2700 × 1800 mm. If a design happens to be in stock, single slabs are possible, so check stock with us. Finished vanity tops cut to your drawings have no minimum, though freight on a small lot is high.
It is a man-made stone of crushed natural marble and mineral aggregate held in a resin binder. Ours is cast as a 2700 × 1800 mm block and sawn into slabs 14 to 25 mm thick, polished or honed, and some designs swap the stone chips for a glass and mineral aggregate, which gives the crystal flecks. We cut the slabs into vanity tops, shower walls, floors and light-use counters.
Not from everyday use. The resin-bound body absorbs only 0.05% water, so there is very little for a liquid to soak into. Wipe spills promptly and clean with warm water and a mild detergent. Keep strong acids off the surface, because the aggregate is marble and marble reacts to acid, and do not use abrasive pads on a polished finish.
Slab size, thickness and finishes are set out in the table above. For a design that is not on this page, send the reference and we will tell you whether it is in current production.
